Once again in Las Vegas last week there was another apartment fire.  It seems like we see this often... The fire department putting out the fire with the news media interviewing families that have just been displaced waiting for the Red Cross for help.

If there is one thing I wish I could tell these families, "Buy Renters Insurance."  For as little as $15-$20 per month, Renters Insurance covers your personal property and the expense of being relocated in the event of a fire or other covered losses. This can be a very devastating experience for families. Wouldn't it be nice to have an Insurance Adjuster standing there with a check rather than waiting for the Red Cross. 

There are many times you have no control of what happens when you live in an apartment complex.  A fire can start in another part of the building which spreads to your unit and just like that you're out on the street.  I can assure you, $15-$20 per month wouldn't seem like too much if this happened to you.
